Guys learned to walk (badly) in heels and skirts, and girls tried their best to look like just the guys Thursday at Ringgold High School.

Hundreds of students participated in "switch day," which is part of Ringgold's spirit week.

Some say it's all in good fun, while others say it's no joke. WTAE Channel 4 Action News got a range of responses from the students.

  • "This is a great, great idea. I love it."
  • "I'm in heels. Don't ask, I don't know. But it will be fun."
  • "I don't think it's anything to laugh about, because now our school is promoting cross-dressing, and I'm pretty embarrassed."
  • "I think my dad would be a little embarrassed if I wore female clothes to school or in a public area."
  • In response, Ringgold School District Superintendent Gary Hamilton said, "This is kids just simply having fun for spirit week. There is no hidden agenda here. The teachers are involved in this as well. This complaint was student generated."
