May 25 is the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, and the 11 AM Mass at St. Barbara Church will hold special significance; new United States Flags will be blessed after the homily @ St. Barbara's, 111 Raymaley Road, Harrison City, PA 15636. These flags then go to United States Armed Forces Platoon Sergeants and their men stationed in war zones with special notes of thanks for their Service and Sacrifice on behalf of the civilians they protect; the men are asked to keep the flags to steady them while in harm's way, and to remember that someone is praying for all of them each and every day. The Flags will be presented for blessing by Marines from the Greensburg USMC Recruiting Center, with St. Barbara Knights of Columbus and Church members assisting. The Flag Blessing for Troops is an initiative of HelpOurHeroes. Also included in the Blessing will be the St. Barbara, Martyr artwork by parishioner Rheba Salac, made especially for the Marines; the illustration, showing St. Barbara holding a Marine with bowed head, honors her as Patroness of Marines, Sailors, Ordnance Workers, Artillerymen, Firemen, Miners, and Deliverer from Lightning and Catastrophy. Six additional United States Flags are needed for the Blessing. Individuals or groups having new or good quality 3'x5' American Flags for donation can drop off @ the Church during the month of May; doors are open 'til 8PM nightly. If you leave a note or card attached to your flag, it will be included in the Platoon's package; because of difficult living conditions and troop movement, you may not receive response, but be assured that these are kept close to the hearts of the men forever. Donor Names will be read during the Blessing if there is a request attached to their Flag. You may also leave unserviceable U. S. Flags designated for proper disposal at the Church; the Knights of Columbus, St. Barbara Council, conducts this collection annually as a Patriotic Service so that United States Flags are not dishonored by improper destruction. If you would like a copy of the significance of the Thirteen Folds of the Flag of the United States of America, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to HelpOurHeroes, P. O. Box 46006, Monroeville, PA 15146, or email to: srheba@windstream.net

Stand By Your Man: The Tammy Wynette Story
Country Musical | Written by Mark St. Germain
June 3 - June 15
The musical chronicles the life of the First Lady of Country Music. While this musical biography covers plenty of Wynette's musical career, and includes 26 of Wynette's hit songs, it also looks at Wynette's personal life, which includes a bizarre 1978 abduction that saw Wynette taken from Nashville shopping center and beaten - a crime that was never solved. A thoroughly moving and entertaining musical, Stand By Your Man promises something for everyone.

Unnecessary Farce
Written by Paul Slade Smith
June 17 - June 29
Deadly bagpipes, a bumbling mayor, incompetent cops, the Highland Clan's Big Mac and the infamous Highland Hitman - who, it is said, always dons a kilt and plays the bagpipes before making a kill - all converge on a hotel room where the city's new accountant discovers embezzlement. The day does not start off well when two inexperienced police officers bumble the videotape surveillance and record more than they bargained for. To crack the case the officers must overcome their fear of the dark, guns, enclosed spaces, and the opposite sex. Unnecessary Farce delivers a huge laugh with its raucous comedic twists and turns.
