A college student who works at a Franklin Park day care center was arrested on charges of selling drugs to an undercover Coraopolis police detective who claims he made a deal with her outside.

"To think that it's OK to consummate a drug transaction in the parking lot of a facility that cares for kids, that means you're not thinking at all," said Mike Manko, a spokesman for the district attorney's office.

An affidavit filed by the undercover detective alleges that he paid Kelsey Rose Lansaw $80 for marijuana outside Forever Young on Brooktree Road on June 26.

Lansaw, 19, of Franklin Park, was with some children in a play area when the detective arrived to make the buy and she went to the parking lot to meet him, according to the affidavit.

"She was with the kids, apparently, taking care of them outside the day care center. She walked over to the car and pulled the marijuana out of her blouse or shirt," Coraopolis Police Chief Alan DeRusso told WTAE Channel 4's Jim Parsons.

"I'm sure these guys had some serious thoughts in their head when they found out they were going to the parking lot of a day care center," Manko said. "What if things go wrong? There are kids nearby. What are we going to do? And they managed to do their job without endangering anybody."

Lansaw told the detective that she could also get him some Ecstasy, and she sent him a text message on July 4 to let him know that she had it, according to the affidavit.

Later that day, Lansaw was arrested after the detective met her at a Citgo gas station in Coraopolis and gave her $750 for a baggie of Ecstasy pills, the affidavit said.

A man who was in a car with Lansaw at the gas station was also taken into custody, but the affidavit did not say if any charges were filed against him.

Coraopolis police and district attorney's detectives impounded Lansaw's Mercedes because they said she used it to make the second drug deal at the Citgo station.

Police said Lansaw's father has been complaining to them because he wants her car back, as well as some expensive makeup that was inside.

The undercover detective told Channel 4 Action News that when Lansaw was arrested, she said, "I'm a student at Robert Morris University, I'm going to be an elementary education teacher."

"Not any more, you're not," the detective told her.

A manager at Forever Young had no comment on Tuesday.

Lansaw was released on her own recognizance after her arrest on charges that include delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility and criminal conspiracy. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 14 at Coraopolis District Judge Mary Murray's office.
