IU Quarterback Lewis Suspended Indefinitely

POSTED: 10:39 pm EST March 6, 2008

(Sports Network) - Indiana University quarterback Kellen Lewis, the team's leading passer and rusher a year ago, was suspended indefinitely Thursday for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Lewis threw for 28 touchdowns and rushed for nine more during his sophomore season of 2007, helping the Hoosiers earn their first bowl bid in more than a decade.

"Kellen has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules," said Indiana head coach Bill Lynch. "He will not participate as we begin spring practice. Kellen needs time away from the program and we look forward to his return at some point in the future.

In 13 games in 2007, Lewis completed 265-of-442 passes for 3,043 yards, throwing just 10 interceptions, while also carrying the ball 147 times for 736 net yards.
