Police Arrest Three In Connection With Howard Stabbing

Storrs, CT -- (Sports Network) - Police have arrested three people and charged one with murder in connection with the stabbing death of University of Connecticut football player Jasper Howard.Howard was stabbed early on the morning of October 18 after a school-sponsored dance. He was laid to rest Monday in Miami. Police on Tuesday said John W. Lomax III was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit assault in the first degree -- both felonies. He is being held on $2 million bond. Also arrested were Hakim Muhammad and Jamal Todd. Muhammad was charged with conspiracy to commit assault in the first degree and is being held on $750,000 bond. Todd pulled the fire alarm that forced the evacuation of the student union and led to a fight that triggered the incident. He was charged with falsely reporting an incident and reckless endangerment. He was released on bail. Lomax and Muhammad are both expected to appear in court on October 28. Police said a combined task force of over 40 investigators conducted more than 200 interviews before arrest warrants were issued. The investigation, police added, is continuing.
