POSTED: 9:17 pm EDT April 4, 2008

(Sports Network) - Presbyterian College wide receiver Larry Carlson Thomas was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Friday morning. He was 20 years old.

According to a report on the school's Web site, authorities said Thomas lost control of his car while driving in South Carolina's Newberry County. Thomas was pronounced dead at about 3:30 a.m., while a passenger in his car was taken to a hospital and later released.

Thomas, a rising junior, played in eight games last season, and caught 41 passes for 539 yards and seven touchdowns. He helped Presbyterian finish with a 6-5 record, and 2-2 mark in Big South play, in its first season in the Division-I Football Championship Subdivision.
