NCAA Game Summary - South Florida At Rutgers

POSTED: 6:09 pm EST March 7, 2009

(Sports Network) - JR Inman registered a double-double consisting of 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Rutgers Scarlet Knight to a 45-42 win over the South Florida Bulls in Big East Conference action at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Scarlet Knights (11-20, 2-16 Big East) was Anthony Farmer with 10 points on a mere 4-of-13 shooting from the floor. Gregory Echenique recorded seven points, 11 boards and four blocked shots on the afternoon as the squad snapped a lengthy eight-game slide in the final game of the regular season.

The Bulls (9-21, 4-14) were paced by Dominique Jones and Chris Howard with 11 and 10 points, respectively, as USF fell into the loss column for the seventh time in the last eight outings.

Both teams had trouble shooting the ball from the field in the first half, but after making 35.5 percent the Knights posted a 26-23 lead at the break.

In the second half converted field goals were even harder to find as the Bulls made good on only 6-of-26 opportunities and 1-of-6 beyond the arc, allowing Rutgers to escape with the exciting home win.

The Scarlet Knights were outscored 11-5 at the free-throw line and made a total of just 4-of-16 behind the three-point line on the afternoon.
