NCAA Game Summary - Northeastern Vs. George Mason

POSTED: 3:42 am EDT March 9, 2008

(Sports Network) - In quarterfinal action of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament at Richmond Coliseum, the third-seeded George Mason Patriots outlasted the sixth-seeded Northeastern Huskies, 63-52, behind Folarin Campbell's 20-point effort.

Will Thomas was also influential in the victory for George Mason (21-10), finishing with 17 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Four Huskies (14-17) reached double-digits, but it was not enough to pull out the win. Chaisson Allen and Eugene Spates each logged 11 points, while Matt Janning and Manny Adako deposited 10 points apiece in a losing effort.

The Patriots' 14 first half field goals were twice the amount Northeastern was able to manufacture in a 33-20 George Mason halftime lead.

The Huskies could again only manage seven field goals in the second half, and George Mason's 12-for-16 performance at the foul line proved to be the difference in the 11-point win.

George Mason actually snapped its streak of consecutive games with a made three-pointer at 277 games. The Patriots will need those trifectas to fall in their semifinal matchup with second-seeded UNC Wilmington on Sunday.
