Seminoles Give Hamilton New Contract

Tallahassee, FL -- (Sports Network) - Florida State University announced Monday that head men's basketball coach Leonard Hamilton has been given a new five-year contract.Hamilton, whose new deal will run through the 2013-14 season, led the Seminoles to a mark of 25-10 this past season and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year. Also, he guided the team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 10 years. "I am very appreciative that our administration has shown a high level of confidence in me and in our staff," said Hamilton. "Much of the credit for our accomplishments goes to our staff and our players who have worked so hard to put us in position to be successful. I feel that the future is very bright for this program." The 25 wins tied for second-most in school history and the 10 conference victories proved the first time since the 1992-93 season that the team posted double figure wins in the conference. In seven seasons with the Seminoles, Hamilton has a record of 131-95, which includes three 20-win campaigns in the past four years.
