NCAA Game Summary - South Florida Vs. Seton Hall

(Sports Network) - Jeremy Hazell scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Seton Hall Pirates to a 68-54 win over the South Florida Bulls in the first round of the Big East Conference Tournament at Madison Square Garden.

Also scoring in double figures for the 11th-seeded Pirates (17-14) were Eugene Harvey and Robert Mitchell with 16 and 13 points, respectively.

The 14th-seeded Bulls (9-22) were paced by Dominique Jones with 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the losing effort, followed by Augustus Gilchrist with 12 points and Chris Howard 11 in the losing effort.

Despite making only 6-of-13 shots at the free-throw line in the first half, South Florida secured a 32-30 lead at the break thanks to a 52.4 percent effort from the floor.

In the second half USF dipped to 36.4 percent from the field and 2-of-9 behind the three-point line, allowing Seton Hall to cruise to the 14-point win on the strength of a 56 percent effort from the field.

The Pirates finished the night hitting 7-of-13 beyond the arc and an even 50 percent from the floor overall. With the victory Seton Hall will now face off against sixth seed Syracuse in the second round of the event on Wednesday night.
