Cyclones' Johnson To Transfer

POSTED: 7:40 pm EDT May 19, 2008

(Sports Network) - Iowa State forward Wesley Johnson informed his coaches that he intends to transfer schools next fall, ending his time as a Cyclone at two seasons.

Johnson averaged 12.4 points per game last year, despite missing five contests due to a stress fracture in his left foot. He also made the Big-12's All- Freshman team in 2006-07, averaging 12.3 ppg.

Johnson will have to sit out the 2008-09 season due to NCAA transfer policies. He will have two years of eligibility remaining once he enrolls at a new school.

"He certainly was a great fit for our program during his healthy freshman season and there's no doubt the injury this year affected him a great deal physically," Iowa State head coach Greg McDermott said.
