Grambling, LA -- (Sports Network) - Grambling State has named Rick Duckett its new men's basketball coach.

The Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System must approve the hiring before it becomes official.

Duckett had been an assistant at South Carolina for the past six years and has head coaching experience on the Division II level at Fayetteville State and Winston-Salem State.

"Coach Duckett is a proven tactician who has worked with some of the best coaches in the business," said Grambling athletic director Troy Mathieu. "He has a unique ability to motivate and connect with student-athletes and will bring tremendous enthusiasm to our mens basketball program."

Duckett posted a record of 150-75 in eight years at Fayetteville and Winston- Salem. He will replace Larry Wright, who was 88-160 in nine seasons at Grambling. The Tigers were just 7-19 this past season.
