NCAA Game Summary - Valparaiso At Houston

(Sports Network) - Robert McKiver erupted for a game-high 33 points in leading the Houston Cougars to a resounding 91-67 win over the Crusaders of Valparaiso in the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational at Hofheinz Pavilion.

Kelvin Lewis added 28 points for the Cougars (23-9) as he and McKiver combined to shoot an impressive 13-of-27 behind the three-point line on the night. Tafari Toney tacked on a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for a Houston program that will challenge the Virginia Cavaliers in the semifinals of the first-annual tourney on Wednesday night.

Urule Igbavboa led four players in double figures with 16 points for the Crusaders (22-13), followed by Jarryd Loyd who dropped in 15 points on just 6- of-17 from the floor off the bench. Brandon McPherson and Michael Rogers contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Despite converting only 6-of-11 from the free-throw line in the first half, Houston still managed to ease out to a 45-32 advantage at the break.

In the second half the Cougars knocked down 9-of-17 behind the three-point line to cruise to the 24-point triumph.

Houston led the way on the glass with a 43-35 advantage, the home team also limiting the visitors to a mere 7-of-25 shooting behind the three-point line as well.
