Which chain has the best-tasting french fries?

WTAE Channel 4 Action News bought a bunch of fries from Burger King, McDonald's and Wendy's. Then, reporter Aaron Saykin and intern Amanda Hoover set up a blind taste test in Oakland, where fried food is a staple of the college crowd.

Which restaurant chain's french fries are your favorite?

Ten random people were asked to eat the fries at the plaza along Forbes Avenue, between the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University campuses.

"I like salty, greasy, all of the stuff that's bad for you," one tester said.

"That's embarrassing," said one tester. "That's bad, right, that I know which one is which?"

McDonald's was the winner, followed by Burger King in a respectable second place. Wendy's was a distant third.

While Saykin tried to keep the fries warm, they were not piping hot, which could have made a difference in the test.

Most of our tasters who picked McDonald's fries said they chose them because those were the saltiest fries.

The idea came from Consumer Reports, which, according to its testers, declared Wendy's the winner, with Mickey D's coming in a close second.

Based on the data from Consumer Reports, the fries from all three restaurants are equally healthy.
