Call 4 Action: Company Stiffs Local Bride Of Wedding VideoPOSTED: 4:34 pm EDT April 9,
2007 The following is a transcript of a report by Call 4 Action reporter Aaron Saykin that that first aired April 9, 2007, on WTAE Channel 4 Action News at 5 p.m. The perfect wedding takes months, sometimes even years, of careful planning, and everything was going according to plan for one local bride. But shortly after the wedding, things went sour.According to the bride, the company she hired to capture her wedding day in October still has not sent her the video. This particular company guarantees the best combination of quality and price, said Call 4 Action reporter Aaron Saykin."I'm just disgusted, just very disgusted," said newlywed Jennifer Siegel, of Munhall. "This is not something I'm able to get back."Siegel is still waiting on her wedding day video from six months ago. After seeing an ad online, Siegel hired a nationwide company called A Solid Gold Sound, paying them $1,000 to tape her wedding. She said the videographer showed up and recorded everything, but weeks passed and the DVD never came."Not only did we lose out on the money, but we can't get that back," said Siegel. "That was such a special day."Siegel said she soon learned a coworker was having the same problem with the same company."I mean, smoke was probably coming out of my ears," said Siegel. "That's when I immediately got on the phone."But Siegel said the company kept telling her they were backlogged."This particular company certainly has a pattern of complaints throughout the country regarding these issues," said Warren King of the Better Business Bureau.King said A Solid Gold Sound has an unsatisfactory rating with the bureau across the country, including the local bureau, which has received 32 complaints about the company.Of those 32, the company has not responded to a single one.The Web site of the Kentucky-based company said it has local locations, but when Call 4 Action checked out the addresses it gave to the bureau, Call 4 Action found nothing more than mailboxes at local United Parcel Service stores."I just would like to keep this from happening to other people," said Siegel.Call 4 Action left a message with the company president, but so far, he hasn’t called back.Tips for choosing a wedding photographer, videographer or disc jockey: Research the company Get references and/or referrals Make sure the company is insured Get a contract with specifics Related Links: More County NewsGet RSS | E-Mail Alerts Copyright 2007 by ThePittsburghChannel.
