Two students in Beaver County's Riverside School District were taken to the hospital after being hit by a car while on their way to school.

According to the district's superintendent, 12-year-old Shane Reich, a seventh-grader, and his 14-year-old sister, Chelsea Reich, a ninth-grader, were struck by a car while walking to their bus stop on Brandt Drive in North Sewickley.

"We were walking down to the bus stop, and I guess the car came and hit us. I didn't hear it or anything," said Chelsea Reich.

Both Shane and Chelsea Reich were taken to Beaver County Medical Center. The boy, who has head and chest injuries, was then flown to Children's Hospital. Police said the boy is in stable condition.

Police said a neighbor of the students, 51-year-old Randy Mulneix, was driving to work when he hit the students with his car. Police said Mulneix told them he didn't see the pair before he hit them.

The children's stepmother, Mary Reich said she has complained about the bus stop's location in the past.

"Both my babies were on the road and it was the most horrific thing I've ever seen in my life. I don't ever want to see it again," said Mary Reich.

Reich said the stop was once located in the neighborhood, but her kids and others in the neighborhood now have to walk a good distance in the dark to get there.

North Sewickley police are investigating the incident. They have not said if any charges will be filed.
