2009 GREENSBURG, Pa. -- The Diocese of Greensburg has unveiled a multimillion-dollar fundraising campaign aimed at improving schools and aiding charities.According to WTAE's news exchange partners at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the $45 million campaign will increase scholarships to Catholic school students, upgrade the diocese's 15 elementary schools and increase aid to Catholic Charities.At a morning news conference, Bishop Lawrence Brandt said the diocese already has received $9 million in donations and pledges.The diocese, comprising Westmoreland, Fayette, Indiana and Armstrong counties, has relied on a grassroots effort to raise money. The bishop said 9,000 parishioners, as well as parish priests, have been involved in the process.
