Russell Crowe is no stranger to performing his own stunts, but the "Gladiator" star was involved in his own real-life fender-bender Wednesday afternoon.

Actor Russell Crowe was filming a scene for 'The Next Three Days' when a van he was riding in was clipped by a Pittsburgh fire truck.

WTAE Channel 4's Jon Greiner reported that Crowe, in Pittsburgh filming "The Next Three Days," was in a van shooting a scene for the film when it was clipped by a Pittsburgh fire truck.

The fire truck was pulling out of the Deutschtown Fire Station at about 2 p.m. when it clipped and knocked the front end off a van parked in the street.

Crowe and his co-star, Elizabeth Banks, both emerged from the van unscathed. No one was injured in the accident. A worker at a local bar said everyone was laughing about it, and that Crowe waved back at her when she waved at him.

Greiner said one firefighter called the incident rather embarrassing.

"The Next Three Days" is being directed by Paul Haggis ("Crash") and also stars Liam Neeson ("Schindler's List," "Star Wars") and Olivia Wilde ("House").

Adapted from a French thriller, the movie's plot has Crowe playing a college professor who tries to free his wife from jail for a murder that she swears she didn’t commit.

Crowe shot scenes of the film on the Duquesne University campus on Monday, where he also interacted with a crowd and signed autographs for students.

Movie scenes have been shot in the Allegheny County Jail's lobby and visiting area and on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
