Pittsburgh Police Charge Ciara Roberts With Criminal Homicide

A Pittsburgh woman was charged Sunday in the shooting death of her boyfriend hours after the city's July Fourth fireworks show, police said.

Pittsburgh police charge Ciara Roberts with criminal homicide in the death of her boyfriend, Chondale Terry.

Chondale Terry, 28, of Pittsburgh, was shot in the chest downtown on Wood Street near Fifth Avenue, according to Pittsburgh police.

Port Authority police found Ciara Roberts, 20, of Baldwin, huddled over Terry and detained her until Pittsburgh police officers arrived and took her into custody on a criminal homicide charge.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Pittsburgh police, the couple were involved in an argument when Roberts allegedly became angry when Terry walked away from her. Witnesses reported to police that they saw Roberts load a revolver and shoot Terry while he stood at a bus stop, according to the criminal conplaint.

Terry was taken to UPMC Mercy, where he died a short time later.

Investigators later determined that the two were a couple and had been living together on Keeport Drive in Baldwin.

Roberts is currently in the Allegheny County Jail.
