Serval Cat Escaped Thursday

Police are searching for an African Serval cat that got away from its owner Thursday night in Point Breeze.

Serval Cat

The cat, named Mr. Bigglesworth, is 2 feet high, 3 feet long, weighs about 40 pounds and looks like a cheetah.

Police are searching the trails of North Frick Park.

"We got numerous calls that people sighted a tiger in the park," said Pittsburgh Police Sgt. Stephen Matakovich.

"The other night, on the way out of the house, a friend inadvertently let him out and I didn't find out until (Friday) morning," said the cat's owner, Mark Nurenberg.

Nurenberg said that the cat is not dangerous, and that if it saw someone it would probably run away.

"The worst he might do is try to bite somebody, and he's vaccinated for all the different things," Nurenberg said.

Mr. Bigglesworth is declawed.

Police said that the owner has asked Critter Control to put out "have-a-heart traps" to catch Mr. Bigglesworth and return him to his owner.

If you spot the cat, police say not to approach him. Just call 911.

A black bear was spotted Friday in Leetsdale and neighbors are still on the lookout for it.

The bear walked into a shop in an industrial park Friday.

The bear wandered around and even peeked into the foreman's office before heading out another door.

Crews searched the woods for the bear, but didn't find it.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission believes that the bear is just passing through.

If you see the bear, don't approach it. Just call police.
